Of textiles and princess dresses

No matter how much we/I can challenge gender stereotypes in many ways in daily life, whenever I walk past shops selling princess dresses – and there are many here in Janakpurdham- I can’t help staring at the windows and if there was a place where I could wear one, I’d probably buy it immediately. Traditional textiles, fabrics and fashion tell a lot about identity and place, another aspect of cultural heritage. Just a reminder to find out more about this in my next visit. The area around the Janaki Temple, between Janaki Chowk and Janak Chowk, is particularly rich of cloth and dress shops.
